The Cobb & Douglas Public Health are on the move in our community to keep the pre-school and school age children safe and healthy! The Cobb and Douglas Public Health help all families in our service area find the resources they need to care for their children. Click on the following for more information about services provided to our residents.
Children 1st is a statewide, free, voluntary initiative coordinated by the Department of Community Health, Family Health Branch and your local Public Health. Any child (From birth - age 5) with social or medical needs can be referred to the program. A Public Health Nurse contacts the family and can make a home visit to help the family access local medical services and social supports. These services are designed to support families with young children, promote child health/development and positively influence school readiness.

The early intervention program called Babies Can't Wait is a statewide program for children (birth to 36 months) with developmental delays and their families. Babies Can't Wait can assist families in identifying needed resources and services within our community to meet a child's developmental needs. Agencies and individuals provide services from both the public and private sector.

Children's Medical Services is a program to assure that eligible children with chronic health conditions receive specialty medical care in Georgia. The Georgia Department of Human Resources, Family Health Branch and the Cobb and Douglas Public Health partner with our local Hospitals to provide newborn hearing screening for all babies born in Cobb and Douglas County. Click for More Information
